My sister-in-law and brother were expecting their first child and hurried to the hospital on a saturday night. Her contractions were 8 minutes apart and she was in a tremendous amount of pain. Her water hadn't broken so they observed her for a few hours and then sent her home where she waited, frightened (like most first parents are). They were only home for about 2 hours before they headed back to hospital when they were then admitted. Our family lives 2 1/2 hours away from Gallatin and we were so excited to be meeting the newest member of our family. When we arrived (7 hours after she had finally been admitted), she was still in pain, they had to re-tape her epidural (which didn't seem to help that much), and the nurses argued with me when I told them she was still in alot of pain. They said there was no way that she could be and almost 24 hours after she started having contractions they ended up doing a ceserean. The crew had to be called in, including the dr. who hadn't been present at all the entire time I had been present (7 hours). It was a horrible experience from the gift shop being closed, all the nurses being &*%@#^%, the construction that kept everyone lost, the in-need-of-serious-renovation post partum rooms, all the way to the security guards who wouldn't let my parents back in after they had left to get my brother something to eat, because it was after 9:00 pm. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. If I had a chance of dying and this was the closest hospital, I would ask the driver to take the chance to drive to the next closest one. Take heed. The facility was beautiful from the outside, but there were no patients (my sister-in-law was the only patient on the entire floor), no visitors, hardly any staff, and now I know it was that way for a reason. It was a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience.
